Notes: "Avenue de l'Opéra sous la pluie", was painted by Edouard Leon Cortes, circa 1950-1955. The painting is signed lower right, Edouard Cortes. The painting is on an unlined canvas; minor frame wear along the extreme edges with a small accretion at the center right top edge and minor abrasion in the lower right corner; under UV exam, there appear to be flecks of minor inpainting along the right and bottom extreme edges, a 1-inch spot near the center top edge, slightly visible in natural light, several flecks in the sky along the dome, a small dot near the top of the far right building, a possible quarter-size spot in the street below the pedestrians at far right, and a dot to the right of the artist's signature.
