Notes: "Le Lavoir, 1924" was painted by Edouard Leon Cortes. The painting is signed lower left, Edouard Cortes. Again, Cortes is able to introduce local color in a simple impressionistic style using oil and tempera (the combination quickens drying time) to capture the place where woman go to do their wash with a quaint village as a back drop.
